  • Solving common problems with hosting companies

Date: 2009.11.10 | Category: Noticias sobre Hosting | Response: 0

3For those of you with web sites, you probably know what a ‘host’ is. It’s a company that provides a location, or address, on the internet where your web site resides.

In other words, just like a physical business needs an address, so does a Web site. You can’t have a Web site and just ‘stick it up’ on the Web. Unless you want to set up your own server, you have to go through a hosting company who gives you that address, including server space and bandwidth, that enables the search engines and visitors to find your site.

Let’s look at some common problems we often have with hosting companies:
    * You can never find an actual person to talk to! They may have a 24-hour customer service line open, but you can never get through to a real person.
    * Hosting companies often think that the ‘lowest price’ will always get the sale, but they fail to realize that what people really want is excellent customer service, servers that are up almost 100% of the time, and a variety of services that come with the hosting package.
    * Many hosting companies don’t provide any other functionality other than Web site hosting. They don’t provide a ‘control panel’ full of goodies such as PGP secure e-mail, shopping carts, log analysis, database creation, etc.
    * Guess what? Technical support people often don’t make the best ‘customer support’ people. They may be technical gurus, but their main interest lies in their high tech servers and other functionality, rather than solving the simple problems of their customers.
    * In other words, weak customer service is a major problem with the majority of hosting companies these days.

  • Benefits of Virtual Private Server (VPS hosting)

Date: 2009.11.09 | Category: Noticias sobre Hosting | Response: 0

2If you are serious about your online business, you may wish to take a closer look at VPS hosting. What exactly is VPS? And how does it benefit your business?

VPS is short for Virtual Private Server. A VPS hosting plan gives you complete control over your own hosting account. It’s almost as if you are the owner of a dedicated server. However, a VPS is not the same as having a dedicated server.

It is just a virtual segment of the server. In other words, there may be other hosting accounts on the same machine, but these accounts do not impact your VPS account. The virtual segment is created using special software, and the goal here is to allocate dedicated resources to you without having to setup a new machine.

This allows you to enjoy all the benefits of running a private server without having to undertake the costs of setting up a dedicated server. A VPS hosting account may cost you between $50 to $100, depending on the amount of resources allocated to your account.

A dedicated hosting account can easily cost you $200 or more each month. So by using a VPS account to host your sites, you enjoy a massive savings of 50% or more upfront. Now let’s take a look at some of the benefits of owning a VPS account.

    1) Administrative rights and access: A VPS account gives you full admin rights. It’s almost as if you are running the server in your own home. You are given virtual access to the root directory of the account.

    2) Cost savings: Compared to a dedicated server, a VPS hosting account offers immense cost savings. You do not, however, enjoy the same amount of resources that you get with a dedicated server.

    3) More reliability: In shared environment, you never know when an inexperienced webmaster may bring the whole machine down. This happens from time to time because webmasters upload scripts that hog too much resources.

If the server goes down, everyone is affected. However, if you are using a VPS account, you don’t have to worry about what the other webmasters are doing. The resources are dedicated to your account and you will not be affected adversely. If reliability is important to you, paying a little more for a VPS account may be worth it.

  • How to choose a good web hosting?

Date: 2009.10.22 | Category: Noticias sobre Hosting | Response: 0

13You will be overwhelmed when you begin searching for a website host for you new website and if you do not understand what they are offering for the price you may be surprised at what you get.

You will hear words like 25MB, bandwidth, ftp, email forwarding, php, cgi-bin and fantastico. All of these are things that are offered with different packages that you will find. Before you decide let’s look at what you might need and how to know that you are receiving this.

Most website hosting companies will have their packages grouped by the various things they offer, of course the more you get the larger the price will be. The basic package is usually around 25MB of web space. This is how much space the hosting company will allow you to have on their web server. This is with shared hosting. There will be other websites also on this server with you, each with their own packages and amounts of space.

Bandwidth is how much data you are allow to use in a certain amount of time, usually monthly. Bandwidth is used each time you upload web pages, images, or some one visits your website. If you are only allowed a small amount of bandwidth like say 50MB then you may run out of bandwidth if you plan on adding a lot of pages, or you are expecting many visitors.

Ftp is a way of getting into your website through the backdoor. This will enable you to upload your web pages, images and install scripts in a pretty easy fashion. All you need to do is place the folders in the proper place in the correct folder.

Email forwarding can be very useful. You can have any email that is sent to your website forwarded to another email account that you have. This way no matter how many websites you have you have all the emails forwarded to one main account.

  • Dedicated exchange server hosting interrelated information

Date: 2009.10.20 | Category: Noticias sobre Hosting | Response: 0

16You see, we should be very thankful that we are born in this modern generation because of the existence of the internet. With the internet, every information (whether about dedicated exchange server hosting or any other such as freebsd dedicated server, tomcat hosting, discount dedicated server or even freebsd dedicated server) can be found with ease on the internet, with great articles like this.

Getting your own dedicated server for your business is a great idea if you are interested in security, being the only business on the server, eliminating potential server problems, and have a budget that includes a substantial monthly fee.

The next thing you need to consider would be if the dedicated server you would be getting will be managed or unmanaged. If you are very knowledgeable, and you have an idea on how you would be managing the server on your own, then you could go for an unmanaged server, but if you do not, it would be recommended to get a managed dedicated server.

If you don’t have an IT staff or a server administrator to provide support, you may want to find a person to help you manage your dedicated server. Many hosting companies that offer dedicated server plans also offer “per issue” support, meaning that you’ll pay a certain amount, usually an hourly fee, for technical support issues. Some dedicated server plans have optional “support tickets” that you can purchase in advance.

Don’t forget that you are only a step away from getting more information about dedicated exchange server hosting or such related information by searching the search engines online. Google.com alone can give you more than enough results when you search for dedicated exchange server hosting.

  • The case for web hosting automation

Date: 2009.10.14 | Category: Noticias sobre Hosting | Response: 0

4Web hosting, by its very nature, requires automation to function. Therefore, it is a good idea to address automation as a solution that can greatly enhance a website, and thus, any online business venture. Small business owners in particular can benefit exponentially with web hosting automation, since it can alleviate many tasks.

This, of course frees up more time for those who have online businesses to spend time on marketing and other business development activities.

Web hosting resellers can showcase automation services through a webpage so that hosting automation tools may be accessed by customers, to manage servers and their websites in the most efficient way possible.

There are many advantages with web hosting automation tools that come into play for web hosting customers, web masters and website owners.

Even if you have the capacity to develop your own automation solutions, at a minimum, you should have in place an automated way to setup and manage accounts, process credit card purchases, and manage websites to manage by account, as well as monitor and log bandwidth and disk space usage with each account.

Other usually necessary automation tools could include billing, domain, help desk and email notification management applications. At a minimum, customers should be able to manage some account details and email accounts including online payments, files and database, and manage some website analytics and statistics.

Server management tools can be divided into software suites, such as control panels, that will provide control over a host of tasks. Specialized tools or tool sets can offer more compartmentalized control over smaller groups of tasks.

  • Dedicated hosting services and Virtual Private Servers

Date: 2009.10.02 | Category: Noticias sobre Hosting | Response: 0

16Let’s recap the different types of hosting services that are available:

    1. Free web hosting – these are normally sponsored through advertising. A no-no if you are serious about hosting your website for business purposes.

    2. Shared hosting – shared hosting is the most common type of hosting available today. This is most commonly used if you are running a small website or are just starting out.

    3. VPS hosting (Virtual Private Servers) – this is the poor man””s dedicated server. With VPS hosting the hosting provider partitions one server into multiple private spaces. You are therefore still sharing a server with other clients, but you get your own private ””slice”” of this server.

This means that your website performance will not be affected by the other clients sharing the same server since each client has his own virtual private space in which they run. Clients that host on VPS servers therefore have access to the same type of services normally only afforded by dedicated hosting technology.

    4. Dedicated hosting services – These services are needed by clients with large website that generate high volumes of traffic. There are also some companies which need huge storage space, and are not willing to share space with smaller companies but with the price of hardware and hard disks coming down in recent years, the more common reason to require a dedicated server these days are more to do with bandwidth usage and performance.

  • 4 things to look out for in choosing a web hosting platform

Date: 2009.09.28 | Category: Noticias sobre Hosting | Response: 0

17With the hundreds of web hosting companies out there competing with one another to offer the ‘best’ web hosting package on the internet and with all the hype that goes along with it, its easy to get confused or perhaps even purchase the package that is not right for us. Here are 4 essentials to look out for when choosing a web hosting platform for your website/business.

The reputation of the web hosting company. Most web hosting companies on the web have been in existence for at least 2 years and they are usually handled by experience and IT savvy network engineers who can provide the necessary support and services to their customers.

How much of storage space are you given? Most web companies out the offer space that range from as small as 20 MB to as big as 2GB or even more. However, this depends largely upon you the user. Make sure you do not get sold into buying more space then you need.

What is the available bandwidth space for you to transfer data each month? We all need to transfer data to our website and update its content often in order to stay afresh and also to keep our ratings high up on the search engines right? Well all web hosting companies offer a certain bandwidth or ‘transfer window’ if you will to enable you transport your data from your local computer hard disk drive to your web server.

The support provided both online and offline to ensure you can sleep soundly at night. This is the area that is overlooked most often whenever the novice webmaster signs up for a webhosting contract. It is absolutely important ( burn this into your head) I repeat absolutely important to ensure that you get a web hosting company that will answer your calls and ensure your website stays up and running even if you call them at 2 am in the morning to request for help. I am talking about 24 hours support everyday of the week and also relevant safety measures implemented in the datacenter at which your server resides.
